-1/4 teaspoon black pepper

To make this recipe, you will need the following ingredients: white rice, vegetable oil, a small onion, a green onion, garlic cloves, salt, black pepper, frozen peas and carrots, soy sauce, oyster sauce and sugar.

How to Make It

1. Heat oil in a wok or large frying-pan over medium–high heat. Add rice and cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes or until golden.
2. Add garlic, ginger and green onions, and cook, stirring, for 1 minute or until fragrant.
3. Add Chinese BBQ sauce, soy sauce and oyster sauce, and stir to combine.
4. Add eggs and cook, stirring gently, for 2 minutes or until just cooked through.
5. Add prawns/shrimp and cook for 2 minutes or until pink and just cooked through.
6. Stir in beansprouts and cook for 1 minute or until tender crisp.
7. Serve immediately with extra soy sauce on the side, if desired

Tips and Tricks

1. Use leftover rice: Leftover rice is ideal for this dish because it's already cooked and just needs to be reheated. If you don't have any leftover rice, you can cook some fresh rice and let it cool before using it in the recipe.

2. Use a wok: A wok is the best tool for stir-frying because its shape allows you to quickly move the ingredients around. If you don't have a wok, you can use a large frying pan.

3. Add the vegetables first: Add the hard vegetables first, like carrots and broccoli, and then add the softer vegetables, like bean sprouts and cabbage.

4. Don't overcook the rice: The key to perfect fried rice is not to overcook the rice so that it's still slightly firm. Overcooked rice will be mushy and not as flavorful.

Conclusion

This Chinese Fried Rice recipe is simple to follow and yields delicious results. With just a few ingredients, you can have a tasty dish that is sure to please your family and friends. Give this recipe a try the next time you are in the mood for some good old fashioned comfort food.
